Imagine, for a moment, that you have spent more than two decades in painfully laborious research. You have discovered
an incredibly simple, electronic method to cure literally every disease on the planet caused by viruses and bacteria. Indeed,
it is a discovery that would end the pain and suffering of countless millions and change life on Earth forever. Certainly,
the medical world would rush to embrace you with every imaginable accolade and financial reward imaginable. You would think
so, wouldn't you? Unfortunately, arguably the greatest medical genius in all recorded history suffered a fate literally the
opposite of the foregoing logical scenario. In fact, the history of medicine is replete with stories of genius betrayed by
backward thought, ignorance and jealously, but most pathetically, by greed and money.
In the mid-1800's, the way that germs spread to cause disease and death was not properly understood and cleanliness and
hygene in hospitals was not a common practice.
Dr. Ignaz
Semmelweis was the first to propose the germ theory of disease, but his ideas were not accepted by the medical
establishment in Austria or Hungary, since his discoveries contradicted the current scientific opinion of the time. After
many years of ridicule, Semmelweis eventually suffered a nervous breakdown and was committed to an insane asylum where he
died from blood poisoning.
Dr. Joseph
Lister, a British surgeon, sought to prevent operative sepsis, which was a common cause of death after
surgery. After studying the work that Pasteur had done in France, Lister came to similar conclusions as Semmelweis regarding
causes of infection. Lister then proceeded to develop his antiseptic surgical method. He started to use Carbolic acid to
clean wounds, incisions and surgical instruments. After introducing antiseptic surgical methods, the rate of deaths in
Lister's hospital decreased. However, Lister's antiseptic procedures were not well received by English surgeons. The 1869
Conference of the British Medical Association devoted its surgery discussions to an attack on antiseptic theory and the work
of Lister. After 1870, Lister's methods were in common use in Germany and Robert Koch demonstrated how steam could be used to
sterilise surgical instruments. However in Britain and the USA, surgeons refused to accept Lister's germ theory as the cause
of sepsis. Eventually in the late 1870's, Lister's theories and methods were accepted by the medical establishment.
Other visionaries who had to stuggle hard to get their discoveries accepted were Morton when he proposed ether
anaesthesia and Harvey for claiming that blood circulates around the body. And now that health care is one of the largest
industries in the world, anything that eliminates illness may be highly
unpopular with those whose dogma and services are threatened...just as what happened to Semmelweis and Lister. Nor has it
changed recently. Here is a list of scientists and medical doctors who have been harassed, persecuted or ridiculed in the
last 50 years for "daring" to propose therapy that threatened the medical and pharmaceutical industry - Revici, Burzynski,
Ivy, Burton, Coley, Glover, Lincoln, Priore, Naessens, Kilner, Livingston-Wheeler and Hoxsey. There is a tragic story
implicating the drug industry behind each of these names. Orthodox big-money medicine resents and seeks to neutralize and/or
destroy those who challenge its beliefs. Often, the visionary who challenges it pays a heavy price for his "heresy".
So, you have just discovered a new therapy which can eradicate any microbial disease but, so far, you and your amazing
cure aren't very popular. What do you do next? Well, certainly the research foundations and teaching institutions would
welcome news of your astounding discovery. Won't they be thrilled to learn you have a cure for the very same diseases they
are receiving hundreds of millions of dollars per year to investigate? Maybe not, if it means the end of the gravy train.
These people have mortgages to pay and families to support. On second thoughts, forget the research foundations. Perhaps you
should take your discovery to the pharmaceutical industry; certainly it would be of great interest to those protectors of
humanity, right? But remember, you have developed a universal cure that makes drugs obsolete, so the pharmaceutical industry
just might be less than thrilled to hear about your work. In fact, the big shots might even make it certain that your human
disease-ending technology never sees the light of day, by preventing it from becoming licensed by the regulatory
agencies.
Now, assuming your amazing cure is an electronic instrument and the only cost of using it is electricity. And it is
absolutely harmless to patients, who can recover without losing their hair, the family home and their life savings. So, with
your technology, there is no longer any reason for people with cancer to pay over $300,000 per patient - to become deathly
ill from chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and the mutilation of surgery. It sounds like you won't find many friends and
support among practicing oncologists, radiologists, and surgeons, doesn't it? You might try the hospitals and big clinics.
But how thrilled are they going to be about a therapy administered in any doctor's office, which reverses illness before the
patient has to be hospitalised? Thanks to you, the staffs of these institutions will essentially be out of work. Well then,
how about the insurance companies? Surely, they would be delighted to save the expense of hospitalisation - at least the
companies which haven't invested in hospitals, where the staff is now sitting around waiting for someone to break a leg or
be in a car accident...and the ones who don't lose policyholders as a result of your invention...and the companies which
aren't trying to divest their pharmaceutical stock. Oh well, forget the insurance companies, too. It looks like you just
might have a little problem with the medical establishment, yes? Probably the only friends you'll have will be the patients
and those progressive doctors who see change as an opportunity, rather than a threat to their established money-making
monopoly. Those people will love you. But they don't call the shots.
The scenario described above is not fiction. It actually happened. In Rife's lifetime, he had witnessed the progress of
civilization from horse and buggy travel to jet planes. In that same time, he saw the epidemic of cancer increase from 1 in
24 Americans in 1905 to 1 in 3 in 1971 when Rife died. He also witnessed the phenomenal growth of the American Cancer
Society, the Salk Foundation, and many others collecting hundreds of millions of dollars for diseases that were cured long
before in his own San Diego laboratory. In one period, 176,500 cancer drugs were submitted for approval. Any that showed
"favourable" results in only one-sixth of one percent of the cases being studied could be licensed. Some of these drugs had
a mortality rate of 14-17%. When death came from the drug, not the cancer, the case was recorded as a "complete" or
"partial remission" because the patient didn't actually die from the cancer. In reality, it was a race to see which would
kill the patient first, the drug or the disease.
By now you are probably saying to yourself, "But this is crazy! Are you telling me that the medical profession just
ignored a harmless electronic method to rapidly eliminate all this pain and suffering. YES - for several reasons.
Firstly, because disease is especially profitable for the pharmaceutical industry. Rife therapy could replace medicines
and pharmaceutical companies would loose millions of dollars in revenue and much of the earnings of the high cost specialist
healthcare industry would disappear overnight. How long do you think it was going to ignore such a threat? The answer is,
not long. Knowledge of Rife’s research was never allowed to be widely known in the medical profession by the actions of
Morris Fishbein, the head of the AMA (American Medical Association) in the 1930's and 1940's. The
AMA, in partnership with the pharmaceutical industry, ensured that most doctors never heard of Rife's work. And even if they
did, it's naive to assume they would all report favourably on anything that might replace their services. If you don’t
believe they would mislead you, try asking most medical doctors about the benefits of using vitamins & herbs! The trouble is
that health care is just too profitable to conventional doctors, whose livelihood depends on treating disease and illness.
And remember what a universal cure would mean to medical research foundations? Doctors who tried to defend Rife lost
their foundation grants and hospital privileges. On the other hand, big money was spent ensuring that doctors who had seen
Rife's therapy would forget what they saw. Almost no price was too much to suppress it. Remember that, today, treatment of a
single cancer patient averages over $500,000. It's BIG business. To finish the job, the medical journals, supported almost
entirely by drug company revenues and controlled by the AMA, refused to publish any paper by anyone on Rife's therapy.
Therefore, an entire generation of medical students graduated into practice without ever once hearing of Rife's discoveries
in medicine. Conventional medicine takes years to accept discoveries that challenge orthodox beliefs and training.
The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York was the first cancer hospital in the USA when it was
established in 1884 as the New York Cancer Hospital. The New York Cancer Hospital was renamed as the Memorial Hospital in
1939 when it was relocated and the Sloan-Kettering Institute was established next to it in 1940. The MSKCC was formed in 1980
when the hospital and the institute were combined into one establishment. From 1940 through to the mid-1950's, the
Sloan-Kettering Institute was the center for drug testing for all of the large pharmaceutical companies. From December 1942
to August 1944, total body irradiation (TBI) trials were covertly conducted on selected cancer patients at Sloan-Kettering,
ostensibly as part of their treatment, but in fact this was part of radiation experiments done as part of the Manhattan
Project. The results of these experiments remained classified for many years. This was also the beginning of the close
relationship that was formed between Memorial Sloan-Kettering and the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). Similar TBI trials were
again conducted at Memorial Sloan-Kettering from the 1950's until 1971. In 1931, Cornelius Rhoads, a pathologist from the
Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research, purposely infected human test subjects in Puerto Rico with cancer cells; 13 of
them died. In 1939, Rhoads became the director at Sloan-Kettering and he remained in that position until his death in 1959.
In the 1940's Rhoads established the U.S. Army Biological Warfare facilities in Maryland, Utah and Panama, and was named to
the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, where he began a series of radiation exposure experiments on American soldiers and
civilian hospital patients. Rhoads became one of the premier advocates of chemotherapy.
According to Dr. Virginia Livingston-Wheeler, "Dr. Rhoads was determined to dictate the cancer policies of the entire
country." Memorial Sloan-Kettering is closely tied to the American Cancer Society (ACS). The American Cancer Society was
founded in 1913 by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and his business associates. In 1944, the ACS was reorganized, chiefly under the
wing of Albert Lasker (an advertising tycoon) and Elmer Bobst (president of two drug companies, Hoffman LaRoche and Warner
Lambert). Other powerful positions on its board were taken by pharmaceutical executives, Sloan-Kettering trustees, and other
orthodox treatment proponents. In 1966, the ACS formulated a "State Model Cancer Act" which was designed to prevent any
treatment of cancer by anything other than surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
But surely the health industry would welcome something that costs cents to use and would reduce the need for costly
hospital treatment? Not really. With conventional therapy, a patient stays in a hospital bed at $600 a day (doctor bills not
included). And hospitals can collect up to $250,000 from each cancer patient who has insurance. Even the giant health
insurance industry would be dealt a severe blow by a cure for most diseases. So practically everyone had too much to lose by
accepting Rife. But if some doctors confirmed Rife's discoveries, why doesn't your doctor know about this?
Rife’s discoveries took place in an age when electronics knowledge was very basic and computers did not exist. The
availability of information to the man in the street was limited virtually to books and newspapers. It was not easy to build
a Rife Ray device and even more difficult to get one to work as it should. After 1939, the few that were available were used
by a few doctors as best as they could to treat patients. However, due to the suppression of the technology and the rapid
advancement in the development of antibiotics, other drugs and surgery, the interest by medical doctors in Rife therapy
quickly waned. Consequently, most of today's doctors have never heard of Rife. And even if they had, it's naive to assume
they would all report favourably on anything that might possibly replace or challenge their services.
Perhaps now you understand why any true cure for cancer and other illnesses and diseases would be suppressed for the
status quo to continue. It's sort of like a war - millions of people must suffer and die because it's so very profitable for
a few at the top.
