Dear CIVIL INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE (CIC),
Animal
experimentation is a living relic. It's not only old-fashioned and cruel
but also a waste of time and money. Dozens of high-tech computer programmes
and models can be used instead, and they are far more effective and
reliable.
There is no need for animals to be held captive, deprived of their natural
existence, forced to endure physically and mentally debilitating
procedures, cut open, and ultimately killed out of curiosity or to develop
a new beverage or other product.
The list of experiments that millions of animals are put through every year
makes for sickening reading, but what is even more disturbing is that some of
these painful and deadly tests are conducted only to make marketing claims
for food products like chocolate bars! That's
right, chocolate bars – like those made by none other than confectionary
company Mars, Inc.
PETA Europe is working hard to stop animal tests, but we can't do it
without your help. Please help us beat the
experimenters by making as generous a donation as you can afford. Let's
send a strong and clear message to everyone who abuses animals in order to
increase sales and make bigger profits.
Mars is a multi-million-pound company whose products – including Mars bars,
M&M's, Snickers, Twix and Galaxy – can be found on the shelves of
almost every supermarket and high street shop around the world. But PETA US found Mars has been
funding the following gruesome experiments inside animal laboratories:
- Mice were fed chocolate
ingredients and then forced to swim through a mixture of diluted
paint, where they had to find a hidden platform or drown. The terrified
survivors were killed anyway.
- Rabbits were forced to eat
a high-cholesterol diet before they were mutilated so that their blood
vessels could be analysed.
- Rats were fed through
plastic tubes in their throats before they were cut open and had their
arteries clamped. Then they were killed.
These are just three examples of what takes place
in laboratory experiments funded by Mars. Please make a donation today and
help put an end to tests like these for good!
In the past two years alone, PETA's
affiliates have won major victories by directly negotiating with – and
convincing – leading companies like Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Welsh's, Ocean
Spray, POM Wonderful and others to stop conducting all tests on animals.
Stopping these tests saved countless lives and spared animals from being
poisoned, maimed and cut open.
With your support, we can save the lives of millions
more vulnerable, frightened animals by changing the way that food and
beverage products and their ingredients are tested in this country and
